Launched in 2013 the Wessex Rose is a hotel boat positioned at the luxury end of the Inland Waterways market. Bespoke designed for purpose, the vessel is a broadbeam canal hotel boat 69ft (23m) long and 12ft 5in (3.9m) wide accommodating 6 guests in 3 en-suite cabins with 2 crew accommodated in a larger double/ twin en-suite owner’s cabin.

Saloon - The saloon is at the front of the boat and is finished with oak detail with an engineer hardwood floor. There is a large built in dresser unit incorporating TV space, display cupboards with bevelled glass, glass racks to one side and storage cupboards below. Two slide out sets of steps serve the side hatches and there is a fixed upholstered cross bench under the front windows below which houses the water pumps, water pressure system, bow thruster unit and general storage space. The saloon is furnished with bespoke armchairs that also serve as dining chairs, gate leg tables inlaid with the Wessex Rose crest and a movable storage cupboard in matching oak.
There are two large front windows that open by dropping down into the bulkhead, two large sliding side windows and two opening side hatches. All windows are double-glazed and have made to measure matching curtains hung from brushed stainless rails and retainers.
The saloon is heated by a feature Lockgate diesel fuelled stove and underfloor heating run from the Hurricane hot water system. Lighting is by ceiling fitted LED lights, double gang 240v sockets are fitted, surround sound speakers installed and the TV is supported by a self-seeking motorised satellite system. An independent router supplies Wi-Fi for guest use.
Galley - The galley is fully fitted with bespoke built floor and wall units throughout and incorporates a built in large spice/bottle storage rack above the worktops. The units house a built-in Hotpoint double oven, microwave, 5 ring gas hob with cast iron trivets, cooker hood/extractor, dishwasher, washing machine and separate tumble dryer. A tall freestanding fridge/freezer is located at one end of the worktops. The worktops are a Corian type with small upstands and a built in double sink and separate small hand basin to meet catering requirements.
The floor is engineered hardwood matching the rest of the boat and the galley is served by a sliding door. Gas appliances are served from LPG/Calor gas bottles stored in gas lockers in the bow. Electrical power is from the battery/inverter and/or the on-board 12Kva generator. There are LED ceiling lights, 240v sockets at worktop height in addition to hidden sockets for all built in appliances, and an opening double-glazed window and a roof ‘Houdini’ hatch.
Guest Cabins - Each of the 3 guest cabins have identical details. All measure 6ft 6in x 8ft 6in (2m x 2.6m) excluding en-suite. They can be configured as king size double or full size twin with zip together interior sprung mattresses. Each has bedding, mattress protectors, toppers etc to match both configurations and all bedding/linen is of the highest quality.
All cabin furniture and trim is in oak and the floor is engineered hardwood. A built-in wardrobe has both hanging space and floor to ceiling shelves with full-length mirror. A dressing table unit houses shelves/storage baskets, two small cupboards, one of which is lockable, a vanity shelf with lit mirror above, shelf for tea and coffee making facilities and small storage shelves above. A further high-level storage shelf runs along the width of the cabin.
Each cabin has an opening double glazed window with made to measure curtains hung from brushed stainless rails and retainer, electrical underfloor heating and radiator, a wall mounted TV/DVD, a wired in hair dryer and 240v sockets with built in USB charging points and a dual voltage shaver socket. Lighting is via 4 ceiling LED lights with 2-way switching at the door and at the bedhead, over mirror LED strip and 2 bedhead ‘flexi arm’ reading lights.
Each cabin is served by an en-suite ‘wet room’ all of which are identical. Measuring 2ft 8in x 5ft 7in (0.8m x 1.7m) each is equipped with a push button flush toilet that extracts to a central holding tank, a hand basin with hot/cold mixer tap and a water saving power shower. Waste water gathers in a small sump trough and pumped away by a waste water ‘gulper’ pump. Tiled throughout with non-slip floor tiles, white wall tiles with a small mosaic border running through. There is a large mirror to one end of the en-suite with a white Corian shelf under and a wall mounted mirror over the basin. Lighting is a ceiling light/extractor fan and an over mirror LED strip light. Each en-suite has a heated towel rail run from the Hurricane/hot water system and is separated from the cabin by a frosted glass door etched with the Wessex Rose crest.
Crew Cabin - The crew cabin measures 8ft 6in x 8ft 2in (2.6m a 2.5m). Trimmed and floored as the guest cabins the beds can be configured as double or as single bunk beds. The wardrobe is larger than the guest cabins with a full-length mirror inside the door. The dressing table has a large mirrored cupboard above and one sidewall of the cabin has under window cupboards, a small fold out desk and cupboard below. There are overhead lockers to the rear and a large storage area behind. Electrical and water systems together with the en-suite bathroom are identical to the guest cabins.
The Vessel cruises on pre-set schedule on the Kennet & Avon Canal, the River Thames and the Grand Union Canal.
Winter Mooring - Devizes
The Wessex Rose has a large ‘sitting deck’ on the roof with folding side rails, a large electric tilt and slide tinted sunroof above the saloon, side hatches and panoramic opening windows in the saloon. A gas locker for two LPG cylinders, a storage locker and the water tank are housed in the bow.
Genuine reason for sale
Fully inclusive cruises are offered on a pre-set schedule between April and October and range in duration from 3 to 7 nights.
The 2020 schedule started on the 1st April and ends on the 23rd October. It consisted of 30 cruises, 208 cruise nights and 11 rest days. Cruises start at 4 PM on day 1 and end at 10 AM on the final day.
All food and drink (including alcoholic) is included whilst on board, the vessel holds a drinks licence. Catering is carried out on board by the owners and consists of a set menu breakfast, morning tea/coffee, lunch, afternoon tea/coffee and 4 course evening meal.
